I started playing tennis at a very early age. My dad was a huge part of introducing the sport to me. I grew up watching the great Andre Agassi during his last years along with Hewitt, Roddick and Federer.
I was actually in the stadium when this point occurred, arguably one of the most impressive tennis points ever to have been recorded. I remember the 2 minute standing ovation like it was yesterday.
I played my first tournament at the age of 9, and continued to play competitively until I was 18. My “prime” occurred sometime in the middle of all this, probably when I was 14 and beat Taylor Fritz who recently became the #53 best tennis player in the world.
If you have the basics of tennis down, and want to bring your game to the next level, please consider buying my book, The Principles of Tennis. I wrote it when I was 15 (during my “prime” era) and there’s everything from instructions on how to hit a ‘tweener to mental toughness advice.
